Washing Cloth Menstrual Pads Cont.
If you have any pads with stubborn stains you can add your choice of
stain remover onto the pad and run it again through a warm/hot
cycle. You can also transfer your pads to a line to
hang dry or run it in the dryer on the low heat setting. If
your pads still have some stubborn stains on them, they can be laid
out in the sun as the sun acts as a natural stain buster and can
usually get rid of the most pesky stains. Generally, a pad
that is air dried tends to hold up longer than a pad run through the
dryer, but as long as you're taking care in washing and drying your
pads appropriately, the life of those pads should be long, whether
air dried or run thorough your electric dryer. It's overall a
matter of preference.
If you don't prefer to soak or rinse your pads, and you aren't quite
as worried about a perfectly unstained pad month after month, you
can always just fold up and snap your used pads and toss them in the
laundry hamper and wash them along with your regular clothes.
A tip for women who prefer this method, it's good to at least spray
your pad with a stain fighter before folding and tossing them into
the dirty laundry. But even that isn't necessary. As
long as your pads are receiving a good washing after you've used
them, there shouldn't be any issues with how they wait around until
they're cleaned.
Washing Cloth Wipes
Cloth wipes are actually quite easy to care for. Many
people who use them simply wipe as they need and then toss them in
a bag/wipe holder until they are ready to launder them. If you
want moist wipes, you can always have a few stored in a container
with a bit of water and natural oils and take one out as needed.
Our cloth wipes are made to fit perfectly in the disposable baby
wipe containers when folded in half. You can rinse them and/or soak them after use but
it really isn't necessary. And like the cloth pads, you can
use a stain stick for stains and tea tree oil or vinegar for
softener, and you're done. The cloth wipes dry well in a dryer
on low heat or can easily be hung to dry as well. The choice is yours.
Washing Cloth Breast Pads
These are the easiest of all. Breast milk is such an awesome
thing, and just to add to a list of reasons why, it doesn't normally
stain. Because of this, all you need to do is toss your used
breast pads in the hamper and wash them in a warm cycle when you're
ready. As far as softening your pads, it's the same with
everything else, tea tree oil and/or vinegar. Doing this isn't
always necessary, it's just a matter of personal preference.
